Date Released: December 13th, 2017
Notes: A compatibility issue existed between the Direct Connect Elf for the Lightning Connector (BE-GPS-1008) and apps receiving data through location services. In further testing, a similar problem was found to extend to the original Elf for the Dock Connector (BE-GPS-1000) when used in conjunction with an Apple Adapter. This issue is apparent on all devices running iOS 11.2.1.
For owners of the Direct Connect Elf for the Lightning Connector (BE-GPS-1008) Our engineers have been able to implement a fix for the incompatibility found with iOS 11.2.1. A firmware update, v1.0.24, is available via the Bad Elf app. You can find instructions to help you through the update process here.
For owners of the Original Bad Elf Dock Connector (BE-GPS-1000) NOTICE: Do not update beyond 11.2. Unfortunately, the mechanism allowing the patch on the Lightning model doesn't exist on the earlier Elf. Any correction to the incompatibility will have to occur in the operating system. If you have updated your Apple device resulting in the inability to use your Elf, we are willing to address any specific situations on a case by case basis. Just contact our support team.
