Bad Elf Pro+: Erase USB Drive
Bad Elf Pro+: Erase USB Drive
Overview
The USB Drive created by the Bad Elf GPS Pro+ is a copy of the internal file system and can become corrupted over time. If you encounter issues with the USB Drive, you may need to erase and recreate it. This process will not affect the underlying GPS logs. Follow the steps below to reset the USB Drive.
Symptoms
USB Drive not mounting properly
Corrupt or missing files when accessing the USB Drive
Unexpected behavior when connecting to a computer
Solution
Erasing and resetting the USB Drive helps resolve corruption and restore proper function. Follow these steps to complete the process.
Step-by-Step
Ensure your Bad Elf GPS Pro+ is turned OFF.
Connect the Bad Elf GPS Pro+ to a power source using the USB cable. Do NOT turn the device on or enter USB Drive mode.
Press and hold the middle button on the Bad Elf GPS Pro+ for 5 seconds. You should see SAFE MODE appear on the screen.
Do NOT tap the bottom button to enter SAFE MODE.
Press and hold the middle button again for 5 seconds. This time, USB DRIVE should appear on the screen.
Repeat step 5 four times in total. Each time, the device will cycle through SAFE MODE again.
After the fourth cycle, the screen should display ERASE DRIVE.
Tap the bottom button to confirm and erase the USB Drive.
This process only erases the USB Drive copy, not the internal GPS logs.
Ensure the device remains connected to power during the process.
If issues persist after erasing the drive, contact Bad Elf Support.
